Hasan Salaam | Interview
Hasan Salaam is a New Jersey-bred artist that creates music to make a difference in the world. Growing up as a wild teenager, it wasn’t until Hasan dropped out of school and was kicked out of his home that he realized a change was in order. He began working with kids in the community and realized the impact that could be made in people’s lives. He began recording music and generated a buzz in the New York hip hop scene. The release of his 2005 debut album, Paradise Lost won two Underground Music Awards for Best Live Performance and Song Of The Year for the single, “Blaxploitation”. Hasan’s sophomore album, Children Of God, propelled him in 2008 to the mass media spotlight for the single, “15 Minutes”. Hasan teamed up with emcee Rugged N Raw under the group name, Mohammad Dangerfield. In 2010, they released an album on Viper Records, Free $.99, and followed up with a full-length, self-titled album. Hasan also runs a monthly food and clothing drive in Jersey City, NJ. He speaks regularly at conferences and discussion panels to bring awareness to vital social issues.
