!llmind | Interview
!llmind is a hip hop producer from Bloomfield, NJ. He first appeared on the scene in 2001 at Beat Society, one of the first ever live producer events, where he showcased with Kanye West and Just Blaze. Illmind made a name for himself by producing for Little Brother, Boot Camp Clik, Akrobatik, El Da Sensei, Diamond D, KRS-One, and more. In 2005, !llmind released an album with Symbolyc One called The Art Of OneMind, which features Ghostface Killah and many other emcees. In 2006, Sha Money XL signed Illmind and helped him produce for artists such as Erykah Badu, 50 Cent, Ludacris, Lloyd Banks, Prodigy, Kool G Rap, Redman, Scarface, LL Cool J, and more. Since then, !llmind has released several albums, one with Skyzoo called Live From The Tape Deck. !llmind’s own full-length instrumental album is called Beh!nd The Curta!n. He also plays executive producer for three separate groups; Fortilive, SunZoo, and Smokey Robotic. !llmind taught Music Production Business courses from 2007-2009 at one of NYC’s largest non-profit organizations, Harlem Children’s Zone. Recently, he was hired at the Clive Davis Department Of Recorded Music at NYU as a Technical Music Instructor for a program called Future Music Moguls. Even further, he’s established a bi-weekly producer showcase in NYC called B.L.A.P. (Beats, Love, Alcohol, & Party), which allows upcoming and established producers to showcase music in a club atmosphere.
