The Skeem | Interview
The Skeem was born in Harlem, New York in the 80’s to a father that was a musician and a mother who was also a model/actress. Ever since Kriss Kross’ single “Jump Jump”, The Skeem began writing his own rhymes and battling in school. At 14, he became an intern and promoter for Loud Records. Soon after, Skeem met with Drag-On from Ruff Ryders, who was impressed with Skeem’s talent and invited him to the office to meet The LOX, DMX, Eve, and Swizz Beatz. As an intern, Skeem gained invaluable knowledge about the music business, and turned down a multi-album deal with Black Rob due to lack of creative freedom. In 2005, The Skeem was Freestyle Friday champion for three weeks on BET’s 106 & Park. In 2006, DJ J-Ronin hosted Skeem’s first mixtape, It Was All A Skeem. In 2010, Skeem released his second mixtape, The Progression 2010.
