Apathy of The Demigodz | Interview
Apathy is an emcee, writer, and producer from Willimantic, CT. In 1991, Apathy started taking music as a career seriously. He joined the Demigodz, a collective of producers and emcees, after meeting at UConn’s radio station 97.1. Apathy made his debut recording on wax in 1996, being featured on Jedi Mind Tricks’ debut album, The Psycho Social LP. Soon followed the 2002 debut release of The Godz Must Be Crazy by Demigodz. Soon after, Apathy released two mixtapes, It’s The Bootleg, Muthafuckas! Vol. 1 and Where’s Your Album? His official debut album released in 2006, Eastern Philosophy, and Apathy became a member of Army Of The Pharoahs. Apathy was featured on the group’s 2006 debut album, The Torture Papers, followed by another mixtape in 2007, Baptism By Fire. His 2009 album, Wanna Snuggle?, features J-Live, Phonte, B-Real, Chip Fu, and more. In 2009, the Get Busy Committee was formed, with members Scoop DeVille, Ryu (Styles of Beyond), and Apathy. Their album, Uzi Does It, was released in 2009. Apathy’s third solo album, Honkey Kong, was released in 2011, featuring Celph Titled, Vinnie Paz, Slaine, ILL BILL, Xzibit, Blacastan, Mad Lion, General Steele, Esoteric, Outerspace, Motive, and Reef The Lost Cauze. Apathy handled most of the production, along with contributions from DJ Premier and Vanderslice. In 2012, Apathy released the double album, It’s The Bootleg, Muthafuckas! Vol. 3: Fire Walk With Me, as well as The Alien Tongue, a collection of early demo songs and recordings. The bootleg double CD included collaborations with Nas, Xzibit, DJ Premier, Royce Da 5’9, B-Real, and more. Check out the Demigodz’s 2013 album, KILLmatic.
