G4SHI | Interview
Born in Africa, G4SHI’s family originally fled the war-torn Balkans as refugees. They moved around Africa and Europe, until finally settling in America in the late 90s. Living in Brooklyn, NY, G4SHI barely knew any English while beginning his education. He became familiar with the hip hop culture and emceeing by listening to The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, Jay-Z, DMX, Dr. Dre, Eminem, and more. G4SHI was soon freestyling and battling others in the neighborhood, using rap as a gateway into the English language. He has collaborated with Nipsey Hussle and French Montana. In 2011, his debut album, Last Of A Rare Breed, was released.
