Hezekiah | Interview
From Philadelphia, PA, Hezekiah is a producer, emcee, singer/songwriter, and hip hop visionary. As one of Philly’s premier producers for artists such as J-Live, Zap Mama, Bahamadia, Mr. Complex, Musiq Soulchild, and Pharoahe Monch, Hezekiah began singing in church for his uncle’s funk band. In 1986, Hezekiah’s cousin brought home a four-track recorder and drum machine, where Hezekiah learned to make beats. In 1993, he met up with The Roots and began contributing to Philly’s hip hop scene. In 2005, Soulspazm released Hezekiah’s debut solo album, Hurry Up & Wait, with features from Bahamadia, Scratch, Chief Kamachi, and Grand Agent. In 2007, Hezekiah released his second album, I Predict A Riot, with features from Bilal, Jaguar Wright, and Freeway. Hezekiah’s third release came in 2010, Conscious Porn, with features from Talib Kweli, Peedi Crakk, and more. Hezekiah teamed up with Ishe for a soulful project in 2011, Ishe & Hezekiah Project. He released another album the same year, Summer In Vienna, with Mystic and Dave Ghetto under the name This, That, & The 3rd.
