Kount Fif | Interview
Kount Fif is a hip hop producer from Northern Virginia. He began playing drums at age four, and was later writing rhymes and rapping. With a need for production, he made beats on a Casio DJ X. In 2000, Fif graduated to the MPC 2000XL and two years later enrolled in Full Sail Real World Education. His focus was strictly production, and he teamed up with emcee Empuls to record the album Slanguage Arts. Fif met label owner and artist RML of Man Bites Dog Records at Vast Aire & DJ Mighty Mi’s The Best Damn Rap Show Tour. The two began making records together in 2005 and Fif later become a co-owner of Man Bites Dog Records. In 2007, he produced for Killah Priest’s album, The Offering, and the following album, Behind The Stain Glass, in 2008. In 2010, Fif contributed production to three Copywrite albums (Ultrasound: The Rebirth EP, High Exhaulted 8th Anniversary, and Life & Times Of Peter Nelson) as well as entirely producing Killah Priest’s album, Three Day Theory. In 2011, Fif produced for two Vast Aire albums, A Space Iliad EP and OX 2010: A Street Odyssey, and the UK version of Copywrite’s album, God Save The King. Fif also released a collaboration album, The Swashbuckler Vol. 1: The Viking Wars, with RML and features from Royce Da 5’9″, Heltah Skeltah, Inspectah Deck, U- God, Cappadonna, Killah Priest, Planet Asia, and more.
