Kurupt, Jayo Felony, Tha Chill, King Tee, DJ Battlecat, & Sir Jinx | Interview
Kurupt, born in Philadelphia and residing in Hawthorne, is an emcee, former Executive VP of Death Row Records, and member of Tha Dogg Pound. Kurupt was signed to Death Row Records in the early 90’s, alongside Daz Dillinger, Lady of Rage, Snoop Dogg, and RBX, led musically by Dr. Dre. Kurupt has also mentored Spider Loc, Crooked I, and Eastwood.
Jayo Felony, from San Diego, is an emcee that signed to Jam Master Jay Records to release his debut album, “Take a Ride”. In 1998, Jayo released his follow-up album, titled “Whatcha Gonna Do” on Def Jam, with features from Method Man, DMX, Mack 10, WC, Redman, Kokane, Ice Cube, E-40, and 8-Ball & MJG.
Tha Chill, from Compton, is a producer and co-founder of Compton’s Most Wanted, alongside MC Eiht. Chill has produced several albums, including “The Hard Way” by the Long Beach based super group, 213.
King Tee, from Compton, is an emcee and pioneer on the hip hop scene alongside Ice-T and Kid Frost. He mentored Tha Alkaholiks and is known as an influence and favorite emcee of The Notorious B.I.G.
DJ Battlecat, from Long Beach, is a producer known for his work with Snoop Dogg, The Game, Xzibit, Tha Eastsidaz, and more.
Sir Jinx, from Los Angeles, is a producer and emcee, and member of the group C.I.A. with Ice Cube and K-Dee. Sir Jinx introduced Ice Cube and Dr. Dre to each other, and Ice Cube became a member of N.W.A. Sir Jinx also produced and mixed Ice Cube’s first album, “AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted”.
