Queen Lisa Lee Interview

Lisa Lee is an emcee from the Bronx, NY. At age 11, Lisa’s parents bought turntables, a microphone, and mixer for her and her brother. At age 13, Lisa passed by a high school while Afrika Bambaataa and Disco King Mario were performing. She asked to perform on the microphone and was listed on the flyer to perform the following week. Lisa was a member of the Universal Zulu Nation in the 70s and the only female member of The Soulsonic Force. In 1988, she released the song, “I’m A Pioneer”, recorded by B-Fats. She has appeared in the films Wild Style and Beat Street. Currently, Lisa is an active board member at Cornell University for the Hip Hop Collection.
