Waterbed Kevie Kev of The Fantastic Romantic 5 | Interview
Waterbed Kevie Kev is an emcee from the Bronx, NY. At age 14, he was showing up to Grandmaster Flash’s parties and knew that he wanted to be an emcee. In 1979, Kev formed the hip hop group, The Fantastic Romantic 5. From 1979 to 1981, they traveled throughout NY, NJ, and CT performing their routines. From 1981 to 1984, the group released several songs including “Rapping Fresh Out The Pack” and “Can I Get A Soul Clap”. They were played heavily by Mr. Magic. The Fantastic Romantic 5 appeared in the film Wild Style and Kev’s first solo record, “All Night Long” was released in 1983.
