Producing with Ray West

Bronx producer Ray West has a unique studio setup in his basement. He’s an old soul with so much vintage equipment, vinyl, and music memorabilia that it feels like you’ve time traveled to 1986. From starting his own label Red Apples 45 and working with O.C., Kool Keith, A.G., Kurious Jorge, Roc Marciano, and many other great artists, Ray expresses his enthusiasm for jazz music by recreating soulful sounds that evoke emotion. In this episode with TheBeeShine, Ray West chooses two vinyl albums to create beats from. He has a unique theory of creating skeleton tracks to leave enough creative room for the emcees and motive him to add a custom touch at the end. Check out this video and leave a comment.
