Kwamè | Interview
Kwamè is an emcee, songwriter, and producer from Queens, NY. Surrounded by musical influences as a child, Kwamè received a drum set from Lionel Hampton and a harmonica from Stevie Wonder, and went on to master several instruments. Kwamè was also inspired by Prince, Morris Day, Kurtis Blow, Slick Rick, Rakim, and Big Daddy Kane. The fusion of sounds helped develop Kwamè’s style, and he released the album The Boy Genius at age 16, which made Ego Trip’s Book of Rap Lists for 1989’s Top 25 albums. His second full length project, A Day In The Life: A Polkadelic Adventure, was released a year later, giving him national exposure. Over the next four years, Kwamè recorded two more albums before focusing his efforts on producing for various talent in the music industry. As one of the most sought after producers today, Kwamè has worked with Will Smith, 50 Cent, Missy Elliot, Christina Aguilera, Method Man, Mary J Blige, and many more. Kwamè has also scored on films such as Step Up, Stomp The Yard, and The Comebacks. His independent label and production company is called MAKE NOISE!!, which features Beyond Belief from Queens and Los Angeles based female rap duo Nola Darling.
