Pawz One | Interview
Pawz One is an emcee and graffiti artist from Compton, CA. He’s performed around the country at music festivals, has been featured in several newspapers and magazines, and participates in charity events to improve his community. His father was a carpenter and taught Pawz to possess a strong worth ethic and sense of discipline. Pawz was influenced musically by Marvin Gaye records and classic rock. Watching b-boys with boomboxes in the neighborhood had consumed Pawz to embrace the culture. Anger that was built up from the relationship with his mother was released through crime. Pawz spent time in-and-out of correctional facilities for five years. He continued to draw and write poetry and earned respect in prison from rap battles with other inmates. In 2009, Pawz released his first mixtape, Verbal Virus Vol. 1. The following year he released Verbal Virus Vol. 2.5 with guest features from Agallah The Don, Killer Ben, Ras Kass, and Mykill Myers. In 2012, Pawz released the collaborate album Bars & Drums under the group name B.A.D. Company alongside Asterix and Destruct. In 2014, he released the full-length album Face The Facts with features from 2Mex, Termanology, Ras Kass, Rakaa Iriscience, Self Provoked, Masta Ace, and Ariano.
