Prince Po (Organized Konfusion) Interview

Prince Po is an emcee from Queens, NY. He is most known as 1/2 of the hip hop group Organized Konfusion, alongside Pharoahe Monch. The two started their careers under the group name Simply II Positive MCs with Po as the emcee and Monch as a beatboxer. Eventually both were rhyming and caught the attention of the late producer Paul C, who produced their demo in the 80s. The Positive MCs released two singles, “Memories Of Live” and “South Side In Effect”, produced by Kevin Osborne and Neal Kelley. Def Jam considered signing the duo, but not until they had a name change, which became Organized Konfusion. In 1991, the group released its self-titled, debut album, entirely produced by the duo. The only featured guest verse was from O.C. on the single “Fudge Pudge”. In 1994, Organized released their sophomore album, Stress: The Extinction Agenda, featuring O.C. and Q-Tip on the song “Let’s Organize”. In 1997, the group released its third album, The Equinox, and soon after decided to pursue solo careers. Prince Po released his first solo album, The Slickness, in 2004 with production from Danger Mouse, Madlib, J-Zone, Jel, and more. In 2007, Po released Saga Of The Simian Samurai, a collaborative album with TOMC3. His second solo album, Prettyblack, was released in 2006 with production from Madlib, Rockwilder, Large Professor, and more. In 2014, Po teamed up with producer Oh No and released the album Animal Serum.
