What Inspires RA The MC
Over a decade ago, Washington, DC rapper/singer RA The MC began her journey into music. She has released three successful mixtapes, has earned a 2009 MTV VMA Breakout Artist nomination, and shared tour dates with Wale, The Clipse, Kurtis Blow, and Afrika Bambaataa. In 2010, RA was featured with Drake and other emerging artists in Sprite’s “The Spark” national marketing campaign. She was also mentioned in the BET special “My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women & Hip Hop” and featured on MTV2’s Sucker Free show. That same year, RA released her debut album, Heart Of A Champion, under the imprint of Studio 43. In 2011, RA released the mixtape, Victory Lap. RA has managed to go up against some of the most notable rap male competitors while respectfully paving own her lane. Her mission is to influence to the youth and speak for/to the voiceless, in a similar way that RA was inspired by Lauryn Hill.
