Redman | Interview
Redman is an emcee, DJ, producer, and actor from Newark, NJ. He is one of the wildest, most beloved, and enduring rappers from the 90s until now. His first appearance on record was on EPMD’s 1990 album, Business As Usual, and his solo debut, Whut? Thee Album, in 1992. As one of the year’s best debuts, Redman’s reggae and funk blended with topical commentary with a satirical, comical, and tough approach. All of his releases in the 90s went gold in the U.S. He was also a member of the Def Squad, alongside Erick Sermon and Keith Murray, which released El Niño in 1998. In 1999, Redman teamed up with Method Man for the critically-acclaimed collaborative album, Blackout!, which led to the duo starring in their own movie, How High. Redman released several more solo projects, as well as Blackout! 2 with Method Man, and has continued to be one of the livest performers in the music industry.
