Teyana Taylor | Interview
Teyana Taylor is a singer/songwriter, rapper, dancer, and actress from Harlem, NY. At age 4, she picked up a microphone in front of a crowd and immediately wanted to sing and entertain. Teyana enrolled in various talent competitions, and later appeared on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16 in 2007. Prior to the show, she recorded her debut album, From A Planet Called Harlem, but only the single “Google Me” was ever released. Taylor appeared in the films Stomp The Yard 2 and Madea’s Big Happy Family. She soon met Kanye West and featured vocals on his fifth album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. In 2012, Teyana began preparing her first mixtape, The Misunderstanding Of Teyana Taylor, which draws influences from 90s R&B/Soul legends and features Wale, Jadakiss, and Fabolous. That same year, Teyana signed a joint deal with Kanye West’s label G.O.O.D. Music and The Island Def Jam Music Group. Teyana appears on the G.O.O.D. Music collaborative album, Cruel Summer.
