What Inspires Wale

Wale is an emcee from Washington, DC. His first recording was called “Rhyme Of The Century” in 2004, which later earned him a feature in The Source’s Unsigned Hype. Producer Mark Ronson signed Wale in 2006 to Allido Records. In 2007, Wale was already on his third mixtape, 100 Miles & Running, featuring Mark Ronson, Daniel Merriweather, Amy Winehouse, and Lily Allen. He signed to Interscope Records in 2008 and released his debut album in 2009, Attention Deficit, with appearances by Lady Gaga, Pharrell, Chrisette Michele, Marsha Ambrosius, and more. In 2009, Wale released his fifth mixtape, Back To The Feature, with production from 9th Wonder and features from Talib Kweli, Joell Ortiz, Beanie Sigel, Curren$y, J. Cole, and Bun B. In 2011, Wale signed on with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group and contributed to the compilation album, Self Made Vol. 1. Wale’s second studio album, Ambition, was released in 2011. At the end of 2012, he released the mixtape Folarin, hosted by DJ Clark Kent, and featuring Rick Ross, Scarface, Nipsey Hussle, Travis Porter, and more.
